PR. STEFANO DEL GIACCO, MD, EAACI PRESIDENT

Stefano Del Giacco is Professor of Medicine and of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. He is the Head of the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Unit at the University Hospital “Duilio Casula” in Monserrato (Cagliari), Italy.
He has been Visiting Academic at the Imperial College London, UK, in 2011 and 2012.
His research interests vary within a wide range of topics in Allergy & Clinical Immunology, but focus primarily on Asthma (particularly on severe asthma, use of biologics in asthma, AIT in asthma and asthma and psychiatric disorders), Urticaria, Hereditary Angioedema and Exercise-Induced Hypersensitivity syndromes with focus on Exercise-Induced Asthma and Anaphylaxis.
He is PI in a number of clinical trials in asthma and CSU.
He is author of more than 210 papers on Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and of a number of book chapters and monographs.
He has held several positions within the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), to which he is a member since 1998. He is currently the EAACI President.
