Professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Allergy, Head of Pediatrics at Koç University, and International Expert in Food and Drug Allergies
She graduated from Istanbul University, Istanbul School of Medicine in 1994. Between 1994 and 2000, she completed her residency in Pediatrics at Hacettepe University School of Medicine, followed by fellowship training in Pediatric Allergy at the same institution between 2000 and 2003.
She was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in 2005 and Professor in 2012. Between 2005 and 2012, she worked as Associate Professor at the Division of Pediatric Allergy and Asthma, Hacettepe University School of Medicine, where she later served as Professor between 2012 and 2015. She was also Head of the Division of Pediatric Allergy at Hacettepe University between 2013 and 2014.
In 2014, she studied laboratory methods investigating immune mechanisms of allergic diseases at the Allergic Diseases and Asthma Institute in Davos, Switzerland. Between 2014 and 2015, she worked as a visiting scientist in the research laboratory of the Division of Pediatric Allergy at Mount Sinai, Icahn School of Medicine in New York, focusing on food allergies.
Since 2015, she has been working as Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, Koç University, and since July 2018, she has also been serving as the Head of the Department of Pediatrics.
She is a member of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, where she contributed to the Pediatric Allergy Study Group, and of the Turkish National Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, currently serving as Head of the Food Allergy Study Group. She is also a member of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Clinical Immunology, the Turkish Academy of Pediatric Allergy and Asthma, the Turkish Society of Immunology, and the Turkish Thoracic Society.
Her main areas of clinical and research interest include asthma and allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), food and drug allergies, and urticaria.
